When it starts to turn into wintertime, all Vancouverites want to do is just sit on their couch cuddled up in a warm blanket and with Friends or Black Mirror playing on Netflix. But there may come a time when you are missing experiencing beautiful BC like you could in the summer.
Get the best of both worlds this winter. Hot springs are the perfect way to experience the great outdoors in the winter while also staying warm and relaxed.
There is one BC hot spring that will transport you to another world. All your worries will melt away as you soak in this much needed steam during the winter time. This hot springs is unlike any other place you have experienced before.
Located in Whiteswan Lake Provincial Park, Lussier Hot Springs is the hot spring to go to if you want a seriously surreal hot spring that is more private and quiet. Chances are you might just get the whole hot pool to yourselves.
For the adventurous, there is even an icy creek that runs alongside the hot spring that can provide the perfect cool down afterwards. Polar bear swim anyone?
The road to Lussier is no less beautiful. Located in the East Kootenays, the hot springs are on km 17.5 on the Whiteswan Forest Service Road and easily accessible by a short hike down to the Lussier River. Winter visitors should exercise extra caution because the trail to the hot springs can be very slippery during the winter months.
Aside from an incredible natural hot spring, Whiteswan Lake Provincial Park features two pristine mountain lakes: Whiteswan and Alces. There are also five lakeside or riverside campgrounds, 3 boat launches, a lakeside hiking trail and several wildlife viewing opportunities.
As always, please be respectful and keep this beautiful place clean.
