Just how much beer can you drink? Well, hopefully, it's at least sixty-five breweries worth because that's what you'll be getting at the Gibbons Whistler Village Beer Festival September 11th until the 16th. Yes, that's right. This festival is six days long... Although the main event is only on the 15th and 16th, AKA the days the majority of people really care about. Regardless, you're bound to have all the beer you could possibly drink.
Everything will take place at the Whistler Olympic Plaza, which is nestled under the serene curves of the Whistler mountainscape. It's pretty much the most ideal setting for getting tipsy on over 150 different types of beers and cider. Yes, they actually have over 150 beers and ciders... One more time now... 150!
Though not every single brewery this year has been announced, last year they had such iconic B.C. staples as Salt Spring Island Ales, Red Truck, Parallel 49, The Parkside Brewery, Bridge Brewing, Fuggles & Warlocks Craftworks, Backcountry Brewing, and Feild House Brewing Co.
While you sip on some great brews, you can schmooze with the other festival goers, chow down on an assortment of great food and even listen to some tunes. There will an assortment of casual games for those who wish to stumble to a victory. Also, there will be ax throwing, which doesn't seem to be the best bedfellow for beer, but still kind of awesome.
Whistler, of course, was the home of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The resort town is internationally renowned, to say the least. It's known as the ultimate hotspot for skiing, boarding, partying, eating, and general relaxation. Not to mention, it's pretty much a dream location for anyone with an outdoorsy bone in their body. All of this makes it just the ideal setting for this epic beer festival.
The gates open 12 noon on Saturday, September 15th, then close around 4.45/5 PM each day. But the festival encourages everyone to walk about fifty meters to one of their many partner venues to keep the party going. And for all of those who worry about getting to Whistler, there are shuttles from North Vancouver and Squamish ready to take you for beer.
Get on these tickets now, they are going fast. Prices range anywhere from $59 - $99 as it all depends on what package you purchase. But you will be gaining access to all of these breweries, food vendors, live music, thousands of sexy festival goers, 10 free beer tokens, and an official sampler mug.
