BC has some of the most unreal lakes in the world and we Vancouverites are lucky AF that we live within a few hours of so many of them. I love the city life but the overwhelming force of nature in BC always drags me out for new adventures.
And what's more thrilling then hiking to the top of a mountain and snapping that next dope IG pic!
For real though...just a short 2.5 hour drive up the Sea To Sky Highway, near Pemberton and you'll find yourself at Joffre Lake, one of my personal favourite lakes in BC. If you have a weekend, or even one night, you should spend it hiking and backcountry camping at one the the 24 campsites at Upper Joffre Lakes. The campground is located at the base of the glacier, right along one of three lakes in the Park. So you can start your mornings off with a refreshing dip in some of the most beautiful turquoise water you have ever seen in BC!
Getting to the campground requires a bit work so be prepared to hike with your camping gear along the 5km trail (roughly an hour hike). Camping is first come first serve and if you're on a budget, don't worry, because this campsite will only cost you the price of a coffee! $5 per person a night!
If you don't have time to spend the night, there is an amazing view point only 500 meters from the parking lot. So you can admire the breathtaking colours of the Lower, Middle and Upper Lakes and if you're up for a challenge, hike up the steep trail to the top! The top has the most amazing scenic views and depending on your hiking experience will take about 1.5-2 hours.
