The Picturesque National Park That's Totally Worth Road Tripping To This Summer
The ultimate summer road trip
Along the western slopes of the Rocky Mountains lies one of the most amazing National Parks in BC. It is home to vertical rockwalls, beautiful waterfalls and Instragram worthy views. The names says it all, coming from the Cree expression of "awe and wonder," Yoho National Park should be at the top of your summer '16 bucket list.
From rich turquoise lakes to snow-topped mountain peaks, roaring rivers and silent forests, Yoho is an outdoor dream world that will certainly inspire you!
The park has many waterfalls including Laughing Falls, Twin Falls, Wapta Falls. But the most notorious is Takakkaw Falls. At 833 feet, it is one of the highest waterfalls in Canada. Ice melting from the glacier increases the volume of the falls to its peak condition, making this the best time of year to visit.
Lake O'hara is another one of the amazing places you can visit in Yoho National Park. Recently featured on our Secret Places in BC list, this lake truly is a surreal experience. Silt from the melting glaciers make the water undeniably beautiful. Reflections of the mountains on the water are picturesque. There are over 61 lakes and ponds within the park for you to explore by canoe or kayak!
Spend the weekend camping at Kicking Horse Campground or hiking some of the amazing trails throughout the park. With over 400 km of hiking trails and some of the highest mountain peaks in Canada, you will never run out of places to explore in Yoho National Park. A 7.5 hour drive from Vancouver make this the ultimate road trip destination this summer.
Dust off your tent and grab some friends for a relaxing weekend away from the city!
