Christmas is one of the most magical times of the year – but Winnipeg may not be able to experience as much of the holiday spirit this year and is asking you to help make their Christmas dreams come true.

The Winnipeg Santa Claus Parade says on their website that unless they get the necessary funding, this annual event in the city will, unfortunately, be cancelled.

The organizers said on the website, "Although the parade generously receives support from sponsors, donors and float entry revenue, this year the costly expense of the float puts the parade in jeopardy." They also added more information on their Instagram, saying that they still need $60,000 to reach their goal before the October  5th deadline.

The parade has been a longstanding holiday tradition in Winnipeg, running for over a 100 years since its inception in 1909. It is also the biggest outdoor event in Winnipeg and draws over 60,000 people.

Organizers are now asking the public for help and have even created a GoFundMe campaign to bring back the Christmas parade to the city this year. The campaign has already raised over $33,000 dollars of its $100,000 goal.

221 people have contributed over the past two months, according to the GoFundMe campaign page. Dozens of people have also commented on the page showing their support and love of the parade.

Here's to hoping the Winnipeg Santa Clause Parade can come back for its 109th consecutive year this holiday seasonTo find out more about the campaign or to support it, visit the GoFundMe campaign page here.
