We are lucky enough that Winnipeg has super affordable flights to the Hamilton airport which is only about an hour or so outside of Toronto. You'll have to take an Uber or GO train into the city, but it's totally worth it for the cheap flight. (Also to avoid the longgggg drive)

June has the best prices for flights this summer to Toronto, so book your trip soon before they go up. The $221 round-trip flight is from June 10th-17th or June 13th-20th 2017 from New Leaf. If those dates don't work for you, they have some alternate days that are only a little bit more. You do still have to pay additionally for a large carry-on or checked bag.
