New Years Eve should be spent with friends and family, enjoying every moment left before a new adventure starts in 2017! As the end of 2016 approaches, the City of St. John's will be doing things a little differently this year. In light of Canada's 150th anniversary of confederation, Newfoundland will be the first to celebrate the New Year and the anniversary! New Year Eve is one of the most anticipated events of the year — and why wouldn't it be? Spent with your favourite people, favourite food and favourite drinks all in one night!
The city has all the essentials for a New Years you won't forget! Entertainment from Shanneyganock, The Ennis Sisters, Eastern Owl and Stompbox will be taking place free of charge. There won't be fireworks but something better — an unbelievable pyrotechnics show! This will be a party you will not want to miss! So grab that special someone you've been wanting to smooch at midnight, or round out a few of the by's and make a night of it! It all starts at 9pm on the City Hall Steps in St. John's. For more information check it out on the City of St. John's website.
For those who want a more relaxing New Years, the Loop at Bannerman Park has public skating and will be offering free hot chocolate and festive music from 4:00-6:00pm.
