This adorable Barrington café is a Halifax favourite, not only for their delicious pastries (their croissants melt in your mouth!!), but also for the charming décor. If you’ve ever wanted to take your coffee while seating in a bathtub, now’s your chance!
2. Sweet Hereafter // 6148 Quinpool Rd.
Cheesecake lovers, this one’s for you. These guys do one thing, and they do it well. Sweet Hereafter offers a huge variety of different flavoured cheesecakes, so you’re bound to have trouble choosing which one to try first!
3. Layers Cupcakes // 1276 Barrington St.
As soon as you step off Barrington and into this little bakery, you’ll be transported into a world where everything is made of sugar and spice and everything nice. This charming little spot takes pride in making the most delicious and most beautiful cupcakes in the city. You’re lying to yourself if you think you’re walking out of there without at least half a dozen.

The little sister of their bigger location in Dartmouth, Two If By Sea at the Historic Properties is the perfect place to grab a famously delicious, buttery croissant and a coffee to go, and sit out on the waterfront and enjoy your treats with the beauty of the ocean in front of you.
5. Gingerbread Haus Bakery // 1138 Queen St.
Gingerbread Haus has it all: pastries, cakes, freshly baked bread, and of course, gingerbread men! No matter what you get, you’re guaranteed to be wanting more of it. Rarely do people come in here and leave with just one treat.
6. Julien’s Patisserie, Bakery and Café // 5517 Young St.
Julien’s is a quaint, French-inspired café that does not disappoint. People come for the fresh, warm bread, and stay for the delicious tarts, brioches, and charming atmosphere. They also know how to serve up a mean cup of coffee, which is not always easy to find.

This North End gem the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re part of the family: the staff are so warm and welcoming, all the goods are visibly fresh and warm, and the vibe is awesome. And their made-to-order cakes are so decadent!

Escape the maritimes and be transported to Paris in this little shop. Their specialty? Macarons that will rival those actually made in Paris. Their huge selection of flavours will have your mouth watering in no time.

Donut lovers, this one goes out to you. Scanway is famous for them, and we just can’t get enough. With flavours that change daily, like maple bacon, triple chocolate and s’more, these rich and delicious donuts, baked fresh every morning, are the perfect pick-me-up on any day.
10. 24 Carrots Bakery // 3200 Kempt St.
It’s in their name: these people know carrot cake. From cupcakes or full-sized cakes, 24 Carrots delivers every time with moist, rich carrot cake and the most delicious cream cheese icing you’ve ever tasted to top it off. They also have tasty little treats for those of us that aren’t huge fans of carrot in their dessert, like their delicious Nanaimo Bar.

Gluten-free friends, rejoice! This sweet spot serves up a variety of tasty treats like pastries, scones, sandwiches and more, much of which is vegan, and all of which is gluten free!
