Although you may have been living here in Halifax for many years, you can't truly be considered a Haligonian until you've had some real, authentic Halifax experiences. It may not sound like a big deal, but before you can be considered a local, there are some things you just have to experience.
If you're serious about being a true, full-blown Haligonian, you should definitely check out the list below and see if you've experienced any or all of the following things.

Climb "The Wave"
Your knees will kill and every attempt will break you down little by little, but once you make it to the top, you'll feel like the king of the boardwalk wave.

Have an actual drunk donair craving
Poutine is always a drunk staple food, but to be a true Haligonian you have to have a full blown donair craving. You may (0r may not) regret it the next morning, but this local delicacy will totally satisfy your munchies.
Hike to the top of Citadel Hill
Getting up the hill will count as your leg day for the week, but the view will be totally worth it. True Haligonians can do it without breaking a sweat ;)
Spend a day at the Halifax Seaport Farmers' Market
Admission to the Market is free, and if you have a few extra dollars to spare you can enjoy all the food and crafts booths with a delicious cider in hand.

Wait in line for Power Hour at Splitty's
If you make it to the end of the afternoon, do yourself a favor and clear your schedule for the next day. You'll want to stay in bed with lots of snacks.
Spend a winter living in the city
If you can make it through a winter here, you're basically a lifer.
Ride the Ferry to Dartmouth
To and from The Darkside. A true Haligonian has commuted many times to Dartmouth for some classic fish and chip or a latte.
Take part in Halifax Burger Week
An annual local celebration for restaurants citywide. This is an event a true Haligonian would never stand to miss.
Celebrate Alexander Keith's Birthday on October 5th
Another incredibly important celebration in Halifax is, of course, Alexander Keith's Birthday. Whether you stay at home and crack open a case of Keith's or head down to celebrate at the Red Stag, this birthday should be one you are most certainly celebrating.
Own a piece of East Coast Lifestyle clothing
Because you gotta rep your coast.
Become a regular at your local brewery
There are so many local breweries to check out in Halifax and all of them are pretty sweet. Good Robot, Propeller, North Brewing Company...you name it! Definitely, go and scout out some of these rad breweries and make yourself known.
