6 TV Shows You Didn’t Know Were Filmed in the HRM

Lights, camera, Halifax?

Often times, I'll find myself watching television, I'll realize that I know exactly where a show is filmed. Although it's one of the smaller major cities in Canada, Halifax has a handful of television shows choosing to film in Nova Scotia.

Living in Halifax, it's easy to recognize a lot of locations where some of these shows are filmed. Below is a number of television shows that are filmed in the HRM.

Mr. D

This hilarious sitcom about an awkward teacher starring Gerry Dee uses Halifax's Citadel High School as Xavier Academy! They've also filmed at Dalhousie's Sexton Campus and at the Museum of Natural History.

Haven

With the show being set in a small town in Maine, Lunenburg was the perfect choice for filming. Numerous exterior shots and The Haven Police Department, were all filmed in Lunenburg.

The Mist

Based on the story by author Stephen King, this show was filmed in Bedford, Windsor and at Lockview Highschool in Fall River!

This Hour Has 22 Minutes

This legendary show puts an incredibly entertaining spin on the news. The show is now on its 24th season and has notable alumni such as Colin Mochrie and Rick Mercer.

Pure

A fairly new series about the Mennonite Mob, Pure is filmed on location in Dartmouth, Hants County, and Windsor but is set in Ontario.

Trailer Park Boys

Although everyone knows Trailer Park Boys is filmed and is set in Nova Scotia, there was no way they could be left off this list.
