A Canadian man's good deeds have not gone unnoticed. After this man set out to improve the driving conditions on the street, locals decided to thank him with the most Canadian gift ever. A Canadian man was actually gifted free weed after voluntarily fixing potholes in his town.
22-year-old John McCue has received several thank-you gifts for working to improve the public streets in Stellarton, Nova Scotia. Over the past two days, he has taken it upon himself to go out and fix some of the potholes in his town, instead of waiting for the local authorities to do the work.
The 22-year-old Canadian told CBC News in an interview that he has been using his very own snow shovel in order to move gravel into fill up the potholes. He decided to take action after him and his mom hit a huge pothole during a drive on Westville Road, Nova Scotia.
As thanks for his work, Nova Scotia locals, in the most Canadian manner ever, have been giving him all sorts of gifts – cash, coffee and even weed. "Yep, I'm getting definitely a lot of tips — I had a couple of people give me some joints, too, which is pretty nice," McCue said.

Now that he's earned some extra money from fixing up the potholes, he's planning to use it towards his living expenses – which includes marijuana. "I'm probably going to buy some weed with it, not going to lie," he said.
Canadians have been loving this whole story. It has gone viral on Reddit Canada with over 1,200 upvotes since it was uploaded a few hours ago today on Wednesday, March 27. Many people are praising his actions and finding the whole thing hilariously Canadian.

John McCue also said himself to CBC News that he has hitchhiked across the country, which confirms a part of the Reddit comment calling him a local legend. The 22-year-old's hitchhiking adventures have led to him learning how to be safe around fast-moving cars.
"I've hitchhiked for years and I've been around highways with much faster cars going much closer," he said. "I know how to be safe around a vehicle in motion."
The local police have warned him to stop fixing the potholes, but their efforts have been unsuccessful. "I did have the town police come," McCue said. "The RCMP came and the Department of Transportation came. They kind of threatened me with charges." However, this has not stopped him from going out and working to fix the roads.
After hearing about his efforts, many Canadians are now praising him as a hero.
