Ah, Ottawa. Is there anything more fun than strolling through ByWard, popping in for a bite at Little Jo Berry's and then ending your day by partying it up with your BFFs at The Standard?
Well yes, actually. Yes there is. And it happens to be going down in the city a whole lot sooner than you think!
This November 3-5, Ottawa will be hosting a huge (and hugely fun!) wine and food festival at the EY Centre. Appropriately named the Ottawa Wine and Food Festival, this event is actually the biggest in the whole city - and the oldest in the whole province, coming back for its 32nd consecutive year!
And even though the Ottawa Wine and Food Festival has been around for more than three decades (!!), that doesn't mean it doesn't have a few fresh tricks up its sleeve.
This year, the Ottawa Wine and Food Festival will feature two brand new "Culinary Vices" for you to indulge in. For one, they've got the brand new Carnivore experience, which is pretty much every meat lover's paradise, and includes a total "charcuterie experience" (complete with smoked ham, capicolo, nduja, cheese curd smokies, and a lot more!).
But if your sweet tooth basically rules your life? Oh boy, are you ever in luck.
The event this year will also feature an indulgently decadent Culinary Vice called Choco-Chic. Highlighting all things chocolate, a trip down Choco-Chic lane will promise five stations featuring the highest quality Belgian chocolate.
This includes a Truffle Bar with 20 awesome flavours (from chocolate raspberry to salted caramel); the launch of the world's first "fondue in a bag" station, where you can choose from dark, milk or white chocolate; a Chocolates of the World bar, including the world's best chocolate from Peru, Cuba, Ecuador and others; a hot chocolate bar with six flavours of hot chocolate; and a choco snack bar, too!
Of course, this is in addition to the Ottawa Wine and Food Festival's usual lineup of MINDBLOWING food and drink experiences, like their ever-popular Cheese Vault (featuring 24 of the world's most exquisite and DELICIOUS cheeses) and Tasting Alley - which will showcase gourmet tasting stations and over 70 international wines from the Small Winemakers Collection.
As usual, this festival will feature some of the world's best and most rare food, wines, spirits and beers for you to taste. (FYI, Sampling tickets for the Tasting Floor are $1 each. Sample prices vary between vendors).
As if all of this wasn't amazing enough, this year's Ottawa Wine and Food Festival will also have a Lippie Lab - where you can get a custom lipstick from KNOW and Pür Minerals matched to your wine, and finished with an anti-smudge gloss, so you never have to break up with your lipstick over a glass of wine. Oh, and protip? Most people like to dress up and have fun at this event, so make sure to go looking FLEEK!
Tickets to this super fun gourmet event start at $25 for general admission to the Tasting Floor (plus $1 sampling tickets), and range up to $105 for access to the Culinary Vices or Tasting Alley.
Not only does this get you admission to Ottawa's biggest premier wine and food tasting event, but you also get an ISO Certified tasting glass, access to the Lippie Lab, access Urban Makers Market, In The Mix and Prep School stages - and the chance to sample nine times for free - and access to the Koffee Klatch, AKA free European-style Nespresso coffee. Plus, your tickets also include access to the 144 sq ft donut wall (!), featuring tasty donuts by Mavericks Donuts. Which is actually a pretty huge deal, TBH!
