I'm no stranger to dating. I'm not trying to brag or anything but I've gone on my fair share of dates and they usually always have one thing in common: drinks, dinner and a movie.
I don't know about you guys but I feel like lately, the dating life has been very repetitive. It's always the same activity over and over again and let's be serious, as delicious as Tomo is, I can only have so many spicy salmon rolls.
Sound all too familiar?
Well here's something unique that you can do on your next date that is definitely not drinks, dinner and a movie. The Great Canadian Theatre Company in Ottawa is putting on a brand new show called You are Happy which is sure to make your next date completely memorable.
Now, what makes this show so special and unique is the fact that it really reflects all the ways that we communicate today. The show is aimed at us Millennials and it features a whole lot of laughter and scenarios that make it oh so relatable.
Okay, so what's the show actually about? Well, You are Happy follows Bridgit, a 20-something-year-old who is desperately trying to find a significant other for her brother after she finds him in his closet due to one of his many failed suicide attempts. In order to help him find bae, she searches grocery stores looking for his potential wife.
The entire production is a terrifically funny love story with topics that all of us can relate to. Don't even act like you've never played matchmaker with one of your single friends, or hey, maybe you are that single friend whose bestie is always trying to set her up. Either way, there's something about this hilarious romantic comedy that will definitely make you want to recommend it to a friend!
So why a theatre production? Because guys, drinks and dinner can get boring very quickly, especially if it's not your first rodeo. If you've never been to a play before, this is the perfect show to go to, it's a clever, dark comedy with something for everyone. And if you're a regular, this is the show you're going to be talking about all season long.
Okay so maybe you do enjoy the dinner part of a date. Even better because the GCTC is located around some of Ottawa's best restaurants who even give discounts to ticket holders. If that isn't enough to get you to go check out the show, I don't know what is.
Not to mention that this is the kind of production where you don't have to dress up like you're going to the Prince's Ball. I've been to Broadway and it can sometimes be intimidating trying to figure out what the heck you're going to wear, knowing that everyone in the building is going to be dressed to the 9's. At the GCTC, all you gotta do is show up with your +1, stress-free.
So, still thinking of drinks, dinner and a movie for your next date? Surprise your significant other and/or Tinder match with tickets to this must-see production happening from September 21st to October 8th, 2017. Best part? It'll cost you less than your date at Tomo.
