10 Delicious Breakfasts In Ottawa For Under $10
Breakfast on a budget.
Nothing's more important than the most important meal of the day. Well, except maybe our bank accounts.
Just because your early morning plate of pancakes and eggs are important doesn't mean they have to be expensive. On the contrary, and with a little bit of research, you'll find that all across Ottawa there's a budget breakfast for everybody. Best of all, none of these places are conning you for your coin. You'll get more than enough on your plate for less than $10.
Here's 10 delicious breakfasts you can get for under $10 in Ottawa:
The King Eddy // 45 Clarence St.
Price: $6.99 ($8.99 after 11:30am)
What's included: The King Eddy Breakfast is traditional fare, offering two eggs your way, their delicious home fries, a choice of the usual bacon, ham or sausage (I recommend the bacon), and their signature King Eddy chili on the side.
Sunset Grill // 100 Marché Way
What's included: The Sunset Super offers three eggs your way, two pancakes and a side of their home fries. Many more items on the menu at their Lansdowne location go for under $10, including their three pancakes ($5.99) and classic three eggs with bacon, ham or sausage, homefries and toast ($8.49).
Elgin Street Diner // 374 Elgin St.
What's included: The well-rounded Breakfast Special includes two eggs, a side of their mashed home fries, a choice of bacon, ham or sausage, beans, toast and a choice of drink (chocolate milk, white milk coffee, or tea). They also offer pick-up if you don't want to sit down.
Wilf & Ada's // 510 Bank St.
What's included: Their Bare Bones breakfast includes two eggs served your way, toast and a side of their home fries (some of the best in the city).
The Red Lion Public House // 47 Clarence St.
What's included: Another inexpensive traditional breakfast in the heart of the ByWard Market. Have two eggs cooked your way with a choice of ham, bacon or English banger sausage and some fruit. As always, there's a side of home fries and toast.
Fil's Diner // 1209 Wellington St. West
What's included: Fil's Wake-Up Call offers diners offer the traditional diner breakfast fare: Two eggs your way, a choice of bacon, ham or sausage, home fries, toast and a coffee. For just over five dollars, it's one of the best traditional breakfast meals in the city. I also recommend the $9.99 Fil's Combo, which is essentially the same with one pancake, one french toast, two pieces of bacon and two pieces of sausage included.
The White Horse Restaurant // 294 Tremblay Rd.
What's included: A majority of their menu items are under 10 dollars, but their classic two eggs, home fries, bacon, ham or sausage with toast and coffee goes for $4.95. Nevertheless, most of their omelettes go for $5.95, so diners have a lot of choice for their budget breakfast at The White Horse.
Good Eats // 388 Albert St.
What's included: Their stuffing breakfast muffin with cheese, spicy ketchup and on a homemade English muffin goes for $5.50. For an extra dollar, you can add bacon. Let's be real, you're adding the bacon, so it's $6.50.
The Wellington Diner // 1385 Wellington St. West
Price: $8.99 ($6.99 before 11am from Monday to Friday)
What's included: It's all in the title. The Traditional Breakfast Special (also known as the Sunrise Special earlier in the morning) offers two eggs of your choice, bacon, ham or sausage, their crispy home fries, toast and bottomless coffee. Again, it's the usual fare, but it never disappoints.
The SconeWitch // Various Locations
