Ontario is home to some of Canada's most stunning natural sights, like Niagara Falls and some vast provincial parks. One of the best (and more thrilling) ways to explore these areas in your backyard is ziplining.
Growing in popularity in recent years, ziplining has undoubtedly been on many travellers' bucket lists. Most people end up doing it on their vacations to tropical locales, like Mexico, but you don't even have to leave your country. Some of Canada's longest and highest ziplines are just right here in our province.
Get your adrenaline pumping and soar through trees and over lakes with these eight extreme ziplining places in Ontario:
Eagle Canyon // Thunder Bay
At half a mile long, Eagle Canyon's zipline is the longest in Canada and shoots you down over the canyon at as fast as 70km/h. All in the meanwhile, dangling 175 above ground (the height of the Titanic), this famous zipline will entice thrill seekers and scare off the acrophobians.
WildPlay's MistRider Zipline // Niagara Falls
Dangle over Niagara Falls from over 200 feet at speeds of 70km/h at this popular attraction. While everyone else is getting soaked on the Maid of the Mist, you'll be getting some of the best views of the falls from up above.
Thunderbird Twin Zipline // Blue Mountains
If you're going down a zipline that's more than 2000 feet long, you might as well do it with a friend. Riders can go up to 70km/h, but can also control their speed if they just want to enjoy the scenery from above.
Logos Land Resort // Cobden (Near Ottawa)
Zip over three different lines over Astrolabe Lake. The heights between the three lines vary, from 658 feet long to a whopping 1315 feet.
Treetop Trekking // Brampton
Fly over Heart Lake at one of Ontario's most beautiful conservation areas on their 1000 foot ziplines that cross the water.
Long Point Eco-Adventures // Port Rowan (Near Brantford)
Take an exhilarating treetop tour through the green Carolinian forest. You'll fly through the trees on eight different ziplines on this extensive two and a half hours adventure and cross over some high suspension bridges.
Elora Skyrider Zipline // Elora
Just, don't look down. This 200 foot zipline takes you over the deep Elora gorge. 80 feet below you, the roaring waters of a river rush downstream.
Camp Fortune // Ottawa
Just 10 minutes from downtown Ottawa, Camp Fortune's Aerial Adventure Park offers thrills through the dense forests of the Gatineau Hills. The course takes you through multiple ziplines and suspension bridges. It's all especially beautiful in the fall when the leaves are changing their colours.
