There are a ton of underrated spots in Ottawa. Some being restaurants, some being random parks that look like they should be in New York City. However, this specific restaurant looks (and tastes) like it should be in Asia instead of Canada.
Asian Alley is a hidden restaurant in the ByWard Market, and everything about it is to die for. If you're a fan of Asian food, you'll be walking into heaven. Oh, and of course, the decor makes for an Insta worthy picture.
Asian Alley is a small restaurant, but that doesn't mean they don't know what they're doing. When it comes to Asian food, they have everything on the menu you could want. From spring rolls, to pad thai, to pho, your mouth will be watering and you'll wonder why it took you so long to discover this gem (you're welcome).
The ByWard Market is packed with amazing restaurants, and most of us have our favourite that we go to every time we're downtown. However, it's definitely time to branch out and this is the place to do it.
The wall graffiti resembles the faced paced and colourful continent that is Asia, and it definitely stands out in a city like Ottawa. This restaurant puts a modern twist on everything Asian, and it works super well. Did I mention the floors are made out of pennies? Maybe that's where all the pennies went when discontinued.
They also sell beer there too, so it's a great place to catch up with friends or go out for a date night. The small atmosphere will make it super romantic but also really fun. With the start of fall, going out for a bowl of Pho sounds unreal. You don't have to prepare your summer bod either, so you can indulge in their amazing fried rice too.
Asian Alley is located at 8 ByWard Market Square, which is next to the famous Zak's Diner. They're open from 11 am to 9 pm daily, so you can always get your fix of Asian food. Seriously, if you're a foodie at all, you'll try this hidden gem. For more information, check out their website here.
