First polar bears, now spiders and dragons?! Ottawa loves animals. There is so much going on this summer because of Canada's 150 and this is one of them. If you're afraid of spiders as much as I am you may want to consider facing your fears by going to see this giant spider.
La Machine will be in town next week and you have to see them. La Machine is a street theatre company founded in 1999 and led by François Delarozière. The spider and dragon travel around the world and have performed during the Beijing Olympics so they definitely have experience.
The giant dragon's name is Long Ma and he is actually part dragon part horse. Long Ma is made of wood and steel and has the incredible ability to blow fire. He is 12 meters high, 5 meters wide and weighs 45 tons (so when I say giant I am not exaggerating).
Kumo is the giant spider and if you're as terrified of spiders as I am, Kumo can give you straight nightmares. She has the ability to form webs made out of water and can spray the crowd. Kumo is also a giant, she is 5.7 meters high and 6 meters wide, but she can reach up to 13 meters when in motion.
Long Ma and Kumo make their Ottawa debut on July 27th and they will wander the streets until July 30th. Look out for them downtown Ottawa, based on their sizes I don't think they will be that tough to find!
