Food festivals aren't a foreign thing in Ottawa. We welcome them with open arms, and no matter what food they're celebrating, it's always packed and always a success. We have cheese festivals, dessert festivals, burger festivals, etc. However, without a doubt, every single year, we have a poutine festival. And that seems to be all the rage.
Poutine is a Canadian salad. It's in our blood to love poutine, and we definitely do. So of course we need to have a festival celebrating it! Ottawa PoutineFest, which is also known as World of Poutine, has been around for 4 years and it's not stopping any time soon. With over 100 choices of poutine, you'll be able to try local vendors that are some of your favourites or some you've never heard of.
Ottawa PoutineFest has free admission, and they also partner with local beer companies to provide the perfect combo of beer and poutine. They'll have all different kinds of poutine, such as:
- Lobster poutine
- Pad Thai poutine
- Pulled pork poutine
- Calamari poutine
- Sriracha poutine
- Pogo poutine
And sooo many more options than that. Obviously, if you are a picky eater, they have totally normal poutine as well. They also have gluten-free and vegetarian poutine. If you're crazy and don't like poutine at all, they have potatoes on a stick, blooming onions, and churros as well. The price of poutine is anywhere from $6.50 to $15, but every penny is worth it.
Ottawa PoutineFest is located at 110 Laurier Avenue at City Hall. The festival runs from Thursday April 19th to Sunday April 22nd and the hours vary, but the festival starts at 11 am every day. This is definitely a festival you don't want to miss because who doesn't love poutine? For more information, check out their website here or the Facebook event page here.
