Let's be real, the cold sucks. And in Ottawa, unless it's +35 outside, it's cold. The cold air in Ottawa is actually unbearable and some of us just can't deal with it. If you're not into activities like skating, skiing and snowboarding, the cold kind of sounds useless to you.
If you're one of those people, like myself, that could do without the cold forever (yes, even on Christmas), you're probably bored for most of the colder months. It doesn't have to be like that! There's a ton you can do in Ottawa that will make you forget about the crappy weather outside, since you're having so much fun inside. So here are 13 indoor activities you can do in Ottawa if you hate the cold:
Level One // 14 Waller St
Level One is the perfect place to go if you want to be lazy, but also want to get out of the house. It's filled with board games as well as video games, and they have a menu that serves delicious food and beer. You could also warm up with a delicious hot chocolate or latte.
House of TARG // 1077 Bank St
House of TARG is such a fun environment. Whether you're playing one of their 40 pinball machines or there for the perogies or a show they put on, you'll have so much fun. Forget the weather outside and warm up with their famous perogies. The rest is up to you, but you'll love it either way.
Feline Café // 1076 Wellington St W
This cat café is one of the best things to happen to Ottawa. Not only do they let you hang out with cats while you sip coffee, but you can also do yoga with them as well. This is also a great place to go if you just want to get out of the house, and hang around people (cats) you actually like.
Hintonburg Pottery // 1242 Wellington St W
Maybe you really hate the cold, and need a hobby to keep you occupied. Pottery is such a fun and rewarding hobby that you can actually get really good at. It takes a little bit of practice, but even those who aren't creative can make some pretty amazing things!
OCR Academy // 1140 Morrison Dr
This unreal workout spot will not make you feel like you're working out. It's such a fun place to get rid of stress, make friends, and get stronger. It's similar to crossfit, but it has obstacle courses that will make the time fly by. You can get a monthly membership or drop in any time!
Paint Nite // Multiple Locations
This is a great spot to rewind, and whether you do it with your BFFs or alone, you'll find it so relaxing. Since your mind is focused on painting, you won't remember how cold it is outside (unless you're painting a winter scene). It's so much fun and you can do multiple to get better at painting!
Laser Quest // 1800 St Laurent Blvd
For those who are super competitive, you'll love laser tag. You get to compete against people and play a grownup game of tag. It's actually a bit of a workout and you can break a sweat, since you're ducking, running and hiding the whole time!
Aquatopia Conservatory // 2710 March Rd
If you're missing what the ground looks like without snow, or the trees without leaves, this spot will make you happy. Aquatopia Conservatory is an indoor water garden that's also a café. They have amazing food, and you feel like you're in a dream while sipping on your coffee here.
Archery Games // 1860 Bank St
Bring out your inner Katniss Everdeen and play some archery! This is also a workout, so don't go in your Sunday best. If you're looking to switch up your workouts and do something different, try out Archery Games. It's similar to dodgeball, but don't let that bring back bad memories of gym class.
Cineplex Cinemas Lansdowne VIP // 325 Marché Way #107
Once you watch a movie in a theatre with reclining leather seats, you don't want to watch a movie any other way. And add on drinks and food to that and the experience is unlike any other. This movie theatre is boujee AF but it's amazing, and it's definitely a great way to forget about the cold.
Sky Zone // 2935 Conroy Rd
Who doesn't love Sky Zone? You can picture yourself jumping on a trampoline outside in the summer to make you feel better. All the jumping definitely gets your heart rate up, so it can be your workout for the day! And you'll definitely break a sweat, which will make you forget about how cold it is outside.
Tag Zone // 89 Montreal Rd
If you've always wanted to go paintballing but are too afraid of the pain, this is perfect for you. This paintless paintball is sort of like laser tag, except different. It's more real, just without the bruising! Instead, they use foam ammunition and it's a lot safer (and a lot less painful).
Bubble Madness // Multiple Locations
This is basically soccer, but you're the ball instead. Well, not really, since there is an actual ball you have to score with but it's a lot harder and more fun with you're running with plastic around you. This activity will make you cry laughing, and it's easier to not get hurt. You can play this inside or outside, which makes it perfect for the colder months!
