Chocolate has to be one of the best sweet treats out there. Honestly, whether you're someone that likes dark chocolate or milk chocolate, it is always a favourite. With so many chocolate shops in our city, you already know that you will be completely spoilt for choice when it comes to chocolate. From chocolate fondue to hot chocolate to chocolate mousse to chocolate ice cream, chocolate truly is the gift that keeps on giving.
Any chocolate lover knows the difference between good chocolate and excellent chocolate. As a chocolate lover myself, you know that the excellent chocolate melts in your mouth and isn't too sweet. Good and regular chocolate usually takes a while to melt and is extremely sweet. If you're someone that considers yourself a chocolate connoisseur (like me) then this event is perfect for you.
The Chocolate Affair Gala is coming to Ottawa next month and you need to get your tickets ASAP. This is the 11th annual chocolate gala. Head here to enjoy a four-course, chocolate infused dinner, decadent chocolate treats by local businesses, and a fun photo booth filled with hilarious props!
All proceeds from this event go to Distress Centre of Ottawa & Region. Distress Centre of Ottawa & Region provides the community with a 24/7 phone line to answer calls from those who are reaching out for help. Regardless of the issue, individuals are welcome to call the confidential, non-judgmental and open-minded telephone lines to talk about what they're facing in their lives. This is a fun and positive way to raise proceeds for such a helpful organization.
There will be so many local Ottawa chocolate shops at this epic event. Nothing is better than supporting local businesses while they completely kill it! These businesses know how to make excellent chocolate that will leave you wanting more. Some of the many local chocolate shops include:
- Bisou Dates & Chocolates
- Alicja Confections
- Nature Made Honey
- Fruit Couture
- JoJo CoCo
- Chocolaterie Bernard Callebaut
The gala will also welcome incredible guest speaker, Amanda Jette Knox. Amanda is an award-winning writer, human rights advocate, and public speaker. In 2014, her daughter came out to the family as a transgender girl, this shifted Amanda's focus towards LGBTQ rights and education. Her daughter's journey changed everything and taught Amanda a lot about courage, compassion, and authenticity. Amanda's personal struggles with anxiety and mental health are also big parts of her life, which she chooses to speak about openly.
This event will be filled with supporting local businesses, learning more about mental health, and of course CHOCOLATE! The event will take place on May 5th the stunning Shaw Centre Shaw downtown Ottawa. If you want to go make sure you grab your tickets now because they will sell out!
