9 Day Trips Around Ottawa That You Need To Take With Your BFF This Fall

A little getaway.

Your best friend is the one that you'll call when you have any problems. When you need a little getaway, they're the first person you ask. It's just an unwritten law. Most of us can't just afford to hop on a plane and lay on a beach for a week when something irritating happens or you get your heart broken.

A little day trip can do wonders. It gets your mind off whatever is bugging you, or if you just need BFF time, it's perfect. Ottawa is a great place, but sometimes you just don't want to see anyone you know. That's why day trips are so amazing. So here are 9 day trips around Ottawa that you need to take with your BFF this fall. Oh, and fall is 100% the prettiest season, so the Instagram pictures you'll get will be fire.

Old Montreal

Distance: 2 hours

Old Montreal is absolutely stunning all year round, but something about the crisp air and the architecture during fall just makes it so much more pleasing. If you and your BFF are too broke to travel to Europe, Old Montreal is the place to be. You'll definitely be able to get some adorable fall Instas here.

Gananoque

Distance: 1 hour and 40 minutes

If you've never been to Gananoque, you're truly missing out. It's the cutest little town not far from Ottawa and there is so much to do. However, there is nothing like hoping on a boat and seeing the colourful trees. The Gananoque Boat Line is part of the 1000 Islands Cruise, which will take you on a tour that will blow your mind. It's only on the water until October 15th, so time is running out!

Eagles Nest Lookout

Distance: 1 hour and 15 minutes

Eagles Nest Lookout is located in Calabogie at the Calabogie Peaks Resort and it's totally worth the trip. Eagles Nest Trail takes you all the way up to unreal views that will put you in awe. With all the colourful trees for miles, the 4 mile hike there and back will feel like a breeze. If you're feeling sad, getting out into nature will for sure help clear your head. The hike stops at a 120 metre high cliff. Ah!

Prince Edward County

Distance: 2 hours and 50 minutes

Even though it's necessary to take a trip to Sandbanks Provincial Park, it isn't in the fall. It's definitely necessary to take a trip to Norman Hardie Winery, where they sell pizza and wine. This little town has adorable coffee shops as well that will wake you up if you're tired from driving, such as The Vic Café.

Almonte

Distance: 40 minutes

Almonte is a great place to go if you don't want to drive too far out of the city. This adorable town has so much character, but it's also quiet enough that you'll feel relaxed. You must sit on The Barley Mow patio with sangria and watch the waves on the Mississippi River. Shopping in Almonte is super unique but you're bound to find shops that will catch your eye with cool products.

Camp Fortune

Distance: 30 minutes

There is so much to do at Camp Fortunebut the aerial park and ziplines are where its at. If you and your BFF are adventurous, you'll be able to climb high up and ride through the most beautiful trees. In fall, it's a completely different vibe with all the fallen leaves that just brighten up the entire experience.

Upper Canada Village

Distance: 1 hour and 15 minutes

Upper Canada Village in the fall time is lit. No, like actually. Pumpkinferno is a festival that happens every year, and it's basically where it turns into a massive Jack O' Lantern garden. You and your BFF will be in awe of all of these pumpkins, and you'll definitely feel like you're in Halloweentown. The festival starts usually in the last few days of September to the end of October.

Log Cabin Orchard and Pumpkin Patch

Distance: 40 minutes

Maybe you and your friend are health freaks and want to do something health related. I'm not sure it can get any more organic than going to pick your own apples from a tree at Log Cabin Orchard and Pumpkin Patch! Although a lot of people think this is a date idea, it's great to do with your girlfriends and even better? You can go home and make apple pies with them after. Score!

Merrickville is filled with antique shops and clothing boutiques. Maybe you and your BFF are shopaholics, and this is the perfect little town to get pieces that no one else has. The town is absolutely adorable during fall, and strolling around with a hot coffee will make you feel like you're in a movie.
