Some of these restaurants are brand new, and some have been on the block a little longer. Regardless, these 21 restaurants are still new to the city and vying for your patronage.

1. Bugigattolo // 54 Fraser Ave

Italian • $ • Accurately self-described as "snug, shabby-chic", this family-run Italian eatery can be found in Liberty Village. Their pizza is arguably the best in the city.

2. Camphechano // 504 Adelaide St W

Mexican • $ • A laid-back but hip environment specializing in in Tacos and Quesadillas.

3. Doomie's // 1263 Queen St W

Fast Food • $$ • Toronto's only vegan fast food joint! They are becoming famous for their vegan take on the Big Mac, which allegedly tastes identical to the McDonald's original.

4. Honest Weight // 2766 Dundas St W

Seafood • $$ • This restaurant has a Indie, New-England vibe and serves decadent in-house creations. They also have a seafood counter where the fish is made available to purchase and bring home for later use.

5. The Commodore // 1265 Queen St W

American • $$ • The Commodore Bar & Restaurant name is basically synonymous with the energy of the 1920s and 30s, and since its recent restoration, The Commodore has brought new light to the iconic Saint Paul property.

6. Figo // 295 Adelaide St W

Italian • $$ • A simplified, modern take on Italian food to be enjoyed within their luxe environment.

7. Bar Raval // 505 College St

Tapas • $$ • Most notable for its gorgeous Gaudi-esque interior, Bar Raval features a delicious menu of sharable dishes and original cocktails. Worth making a night of!

8. Alo // 163 Spadina Ave

French • $$$ • This fine-dining spot offers a a tight menu of carefully constructed dishes. Located in a Victorian style building, Alo's modern flair on French cuisine maintains its high-caliber ritziness.

9. Hanmoto // 2 Lakeview Ave

Japanese • $ • Small, casual, open late, and cheap. We're sold!

10. The Cactus Club // 77 Adelaide St W

Resto-Lounge • $$ • A casual fine-dining experience with a delicious and expansive menu with something for everyone. A must-try restaurant.

11. Cabbagetown Hive // 559 Parliament St

Street Food • $$ • This 'mood-inspired' menu offers creative sandwich and salad constructions, as well as a dessert menu and brunch on weekends!

12. Maple Leaf Tavern // 955 Gerrard St E

Canadian • $$$ • Although the space was built in 1910, the contemporary finish makes the Maple Leaf Tavern a welcome environment. They specialize in steaks, fish, and elevated comfort foods.

13. Imanishi // 1330 Dundas St W

Japanese • $$ • Nuanced Japanese flavours blended with American ingredients.

14. Cacao 70 // Multiple Locations

Dessert • $$ • Located on Queen West and in the Distillery District, this spot is a chocolate lover's paradise. On top of desserts they also offer brunch!

15. Adamson Barbecue // 176 Wicksteed Ave

Barbecue • $ • Adamson Barbecue offers five types of meat: brisket, turkey, sausages, pulled pork, and spare ribs. Everything is slow cooked in-house and served straight up with simple sides.

16. Burgatory // 719 College St

Burger Joint • $$ • Burgatory was once just a food truck but popularity led to its permanent establishment on College Street. The creative burger combinations are on another level, and the milkshakes are nothing short of incredible!

17. El Rey Mezecal // 2 Kensington Ave

Mexican • $$ • A short menu of small eats to pair with the specialty mezecals.

18. Chabrol // 90 Yorkville Ave

French • $$$ • Big flavours, small venue. This upscale French cuisine is brought to you from the owners of Cava.

19. Recess // 60 Sudbury St.

Diner • $$ • From the creators of Old School, Recess is a 24 hour diner with a lengthy, delicious breakfast menu.

20. Carver // 101 Peter St.

Sandwich Shop • $ • Last summer, Carver starting selling sandwiches exclusively via delivery. Thankfully, their success has led to a solidified sandwich shop on Peter Street that you'll definitely want to stop by.

21. Cafeteria // 974 College St

Mexican • $$ •  Playa Cabana Restaurant Group's latest venture is a Mexican diner which hosts brunch, lunch, and dinner service. No reservation needed at the bar if you just want to grab some quick tacos. The back room offers more seating as well as more of a menu selection.
