Celebrate World Vegan Day At These Amazing Toronto Restaurants

Get ready to EAT!!

Whether it's for ethical, moral, gastronomical, or environmental reasons, veganism is huge and widely debated, hated, adored, and admired throughout the world in nearly equal measure.

But today, veganism is being celebrated with its own worldwide holiday. And what better way to celebrate World Vegan Day than eat some delicious all-vegan food, even if you're not a vegan.

If there's the popularity of vegan food has proven anything in recent years, it's that veganism doesn't have to be all salads and rabbit food. In fact, it doesn't even have to be healthy.

To celebrate this global holiday, here are some of our favourite vegan restaurants in Toronto!

1. Doomie's

To reiterate my previous statement, vegan food does NOT have to be healthy. And Doomie's prides itself on being delicious vegan junk food and we love them for it. From their vegan take on the Big Mac to their loaded nachos with non-dairy cheese, this is a vegan's cheat day heaven. And is also a great way to convert your non-vegan friends to the dark side of veganism.

2. Bolt Fresh Bar

Taking things on the healthier side is Bolt, which is easily just as addictive and tasty as the burgers and savoury eats at Doomie's. Bolt Fresh Bar has a wide selection of salads, grain bowls, and smoothies that are filling meals in themselves. And their acai bowls are to die for. Enough said. 'nuff said.

3. The Hogtown Vegan

Okay, back to the dark side. The Hogtown Vegan tops the list for all-vegan Southern comfort food in Toronto. From dishes like their Philly Cheesesteak and Reuben Sandwich to their infamous Chicken & Waffles, your tastebuds will be fooled into thinking your eating meat.

4. Fresh Restaurants

A staple in the Toronto vegan food scene, Fresh Restaurants have an eclectic mix of vegan eats that range from the uber-healthy to the savoury, including different dishes inspired by cuisines from across the world.

5. Planta Burger

One of the newest and yummiest additions to the Toronto vegan food scene is Planta Burger, a casual spinoff of the popular Planta restaurant on Bloor Street. This quick in-and-out burger joint has original takes on vegan burgers, including their west-coast-inspired California Burger, oozing with vegan cheese.

Happy World Vegan Day and bon appétit!!
