"Healthy" and "vegan" may not be the first two words that come to mind when you think of The Cheesecake Factory. But the brand, who's much-anticipated arrival to Toronto is in the near future, has some pleasant surprises in store for you.
According to reports on the new Yorkdale restaurant, the Toronto menu will be "nearly identical to that in the U.S." and it will include the restaurant's signature “super” foods and “skinnylicious” lighter options.
Although some of these items aren't new or hidden by any means, to Canadians who don't frequent the restaurant often since it's on the other side of the border, these menu items were 100% a mouth-watering surprise.
There are plenty of vegetarian options on the menu, but for all you vegans or non-dairy folk, here are some of the top dairy-free items:
1. The Avocado Toast
Also known as the food of millennials, Avocado Toast is on The Cheesecake Factory menu and it is vegan-friendly friends. Avocado, radishes, toast and spinach are the main ingredients on this green deliciousness.
2. The Vegan Cobb Salad
As it's name suggests, this superfood-filled salad is completely vegan and totally going to fill your tummy. Packed with quinoa, green beans, roasted beets, avocado, garbanzo beans, farro, tomato, grilled asparagus, almonds, sunflower seeds, and their house vinaigrette, this salad is a definite go-to for a no-stress vegan meal at the Factory.
3. The Veggie Burger
We can't believe this patty isn't meat. Made with protein substitutes like farro, black beans, and brown rice, this meatless burger looks as juicy as the real thing. Some locations may use egg in the patty, but if not this option is totally vegan when made with no cheese or mayonnaise. And so are the fries that accompany it!
4. The Falafel Salad
Crunchy falafel (chickpea) balls on top of a bed of romaine, cucumbers, onion, tomatoes, and feta. To make it a vegan option, just remove the cheese.
5. The California Guacamole Salad
Making our guac dreams come true, this salad is topped with crunchy tortilla bits, radishes, tomatoes and cilantro.
And although we're not completely sure that ALL of these items will be gracing the menu at the new Yorkdale location, we're fairly positive they vegan and vegetarian options that edge on the healthier side will be making the cut. We'll just have to wait until November 21st to find out!
