Tacos are literally the best meal, especially in the summer. There's nothing better than heading over to the closest Mexican restaurant in your neighbourhood, relaxing on their sunny patio and enjoying a plate full of delicious tacos with a margarita in your hand. 

I mean, that just sounds like the dream right now, doesn't it? Apparently, this summer in Toronto is going be longer, sunnier and hotter than our last few summers, which means we can make our dream a reality every weekend if we want to! 

Toronto is packed full of amazing Mexican restaurants that all deserve a spot on this list but if you want to hit up some of the best, use this list as an ultimate bucket list for taco spots. Don't miss out on any delicious tacos this summer! 



Itacate 

Where: 998 St Clair Ave. W // St Clair West Village

Itacate is the definition of authentic Mexican food. Somewhat hidden from the public, it is secretly located inside a butcher shop! It's a tiny space but you're guaranteed to find some seriously big flavours here that will keep you coming back for more.


King's Tacos 

Where: 1190 St Clair Ave. W // St Clair West Village

This Mexican spot has been serving up authentic tacos since the 80s in Toronto! This place is almost always packed full of hungry customers so you know it's good. Their tacos are DIY style so you can make them exactly how you like them.


Playa Cabana Cantina 

Where: 2883 Dundas St W // The Junction

There are a few different locations of this exciting Mexican restaurant sprinkled around the city. This spot is full of lively energy and music, making this more of an outing than a boring old dinner spot. You can expect amazing tacos and delicious drinks to enjoy while you're there.


Grand Electric 

Where: 1330 Queen St W // Parkdale

Grand Electric is definitely the hippest taco spot on this list. They've got an adorable, bright space with great music and food served at communal tables! Their tacos are relatively cheap as well sitting at $3.50 each for 3 tacos which is a great price. 


El Trompo 

Where: 277 Augusta Ave // Kensington Market

El Trompo is an amazing spot with a sunny patio to enjoy in the summer months. Their guacamole is super creamy and delicious plus they serve a plate of 3 tacos for under $10! 


Seven Lives

Where: 69 Kensington Ave // Kensington Market

Another Kensington Market favourite is this delicious taco spot, Seven Lives. It's a cash-only Baja-style taqueria that serves up some amazing seafood as well! Their tacos are a bit pricier, sitting at $5 each but they're made with super fresh ingredients and packed full of toppings making it totally worth the price.


El Rey Mezcal Bar

The final Kensington Market taco spot on the list is El Rey Mezcal Bar. This spot is focused on making unreal mezcal drinks but they also serve up delicious tacos as well. They serve 3 different kinds of tacos: beef brisket, Al Pastor (grilled pork) and Crispy Squid for $4.95 each! 


Wilbur Mexicana

Wilbur Mexicana is a super cool taco joint that serves up amazing food! Certain elements of the decor are inspired by a laboratory with all kinds of sauces to choose from laid out. Almost all of their tacos are only $3.75 each plus they serve other great appetizers like their guacamole and chips and their Mexican corn!


La Carnita 

Where: 106 John St // Entertainment District

La Carnita has a few different restaurants open around the city so you know this place is popular. Their location on John St is a full 2 storey restaurant with fun music and a great atmosphere! Their delicious tacos are around $4.95 each and they serve all kinds of other food and appetizers as well


El Caballito Tequila Bar

Where: 220 King St W // Old Toronto

El Caballito is definitely the place to be if you want to enjoy an amazing outdoor patio night. Their hidden patio is super festive, full of twinkly lights and decorations plus they always play great music. Their tacos are less than $5 each and they have a huge menu of delicious drinks to choose from.


Tacos 101 

Where: 101 Dundas St E // Downtown Toronto

This spot is the perfect place to go if you want authentic Mexican food without the complicated menu that most places have. Here they serve up just 5 simple tacos, a couple different sides and traditional Mexican drinks that rotate weekly!


El Catrin 

Where: 18 Tank House Ln // Distillery District

I'm sure almost everyone reading this list knows about El Catrin because of its Distillery District location and stunning outdoor patio. Here, you're guaranteed a great time full of music, drinks and delicious food. Their food is definitely on the pricier side with 2 tacos costing $12.
