2015 was the year of the foodie.
More then ever before, people are interested in trying the best dishes, capturing the best food Instas, and telling their friends about the best restaurants.
Us Torontonians are lucky when it comes to our food culture because we really do have endless choices, with new and exciting restaurants opening weekly all over the city.

Bar Raval // 505 College Street
This tapas restaurant, located in Little Italy, brings it back to basics, with guests dining shoulder-to-shoulder on Northern Spanish snacks. The interior design of the restaurant is reason enough to visit this establishment: the baroque style reminds you of something by visionary architecture Antonio Gaudi in Barcelona. While all the tapas are incredible, it wouldn't be a Spanish eatery without Jamon, a dry-cured ham.
The Carbon Bar // 99 Queen Street East
The Carbon Bar is a restaurant located in what once was Electric Circus Nightclub, so you already know it will be a good time. The casual service of waiters dressed in Adidas sneakers and jeans mixed with a cuisine of locally sourced ingredients and sharing plates, still has a polished feel. It walks the line between fine and casual dining in a very unique way, complete with indie rock playing throughout the restaurant. We're big fans of the scallops and pork belly with salsa verde.
Kasa Moto // 115 Yorkville Avenue
Kasa Moto opened up this summer in the heart of Yorkville and quickly became the hottest spot in the area. The fantastic, sprawling patio is definitely a selling point. Its modern Japanese cuisine features a large selection of both hot and cold plates, and the hamachi ponzu is not to be missed.
Valdez // 606 King Street West
If you want to try something new, head to Valdez, because chances are "latin street food" is not something everyone is familiar with. The decor is has a rough urban feel which gives a laid back and festive feel to the restaurant. The plates are meant to be shared and one thing your entire table will enjoy is the "Chori Papa", a sizzling plate of chorizo, potatoes, peppers, chipotle mayo and goat cheese. IT IS TO DIE FOR.
Miku // 10 Bay Street #105
The Japanese restaurant, that originated in Vancouver, finally arrived in Toronto just a few months ago and is already on the top of everyone's list. The clean and minimalistic design allows for the delicious food to take centre stage. The eatery is famous for it's "Aburi-style" sushi, aka sushi that has been lightly seared with a blowtorch!

Pai // 18 Duncan Street
You can never go wrong with Thai food, especially if it's from Pai. The open-kitchen design is made to imitate the feel of a market somewhere in Thailand, which saves you a lot of money on a plane ticket (ha ha..) While one's first instinct is to order the Pad Thai (which is delicious), we urge you to extend your Thai food knowledge and try something new, like the Tom Yum Nam Sai Kung Mor Fai, try saying that 3 times fast (it's a sour & spicy seafood soup btw).
