The dating scene in Toronto can be a lot to handle for those that aren't from the city. There are certain things that are acceptable and tend to happen in relationships, that may seem absurd to non-Torontonians.

1. People don't mind open relationships.
Many people who live in Toronto, love the busy city life because there's always something going on. If you're in a committed relationship, all that fun will be cut in half. 2. Casual dating is totally acceptable.

Expect a call at 3 o'clock in the morning after a night of partying on King Street.
8. They most likely do not own a vehicle.
If they live in the downtown core, the chances of them owning a vehicle are pretty slim. There's absolutely no need to have a car, because Torontonians that operate a vehicle during rush hour spend more time in traffic than making dinner. TTC, speed walking or worst case scenario Uber is the way to go in Toronto.
9. Your present "fling" or bf knows your ex.
Don't be surprised if they use to be friends. The city is very big, yet small. Everyone knows everyone.
10. Careers are important.
Many Torontonians make their career a priority. Dating is important but some Torontonians just don't have time to date (hence point #3.) You'll usually find this career oriented person living in Liberty Village...
11. And so is a healthy lifestyle.
Health and fitness is a big thing in this city. Don't be surprised if the person you're sleeping with or dating, is a gym addict, follows a strict gluten-free diet or is a yoga instructor at Yoga Space.
12. You'll always "dress up."

13. Your date or S/O will get hit on.
Whether you're together at a nightclub or walking down Queen Street, other Torontonians will check out the person by your side. They will also most likely say hi to at least one person when they're out, so we suggest you work on your emotions if you're the jealous type.
14. They'll be on their phone a lot.
We are constantly on our phones. The addiction is real and it has affected the rest of the world as well, but Torontonians are constantly checking their emails, messages and social media profiles.
15. There are plenty of fish in the sea.
