According To Rachel McAdams, You'll Likely Run Into Her At These 5 Places In Toronto
She's just like one of us.
Rachel McAdams is one of my favourite people on this planet. I've always been kind of obsessed with her; ever since her big screen debut in Rob Schneider's The Hot Chick. Her sheer acting prowess, her assertive command over her own career decisions, her defiance of the exuberance of Hollywood life and her undying commitment to her Toronto roots are all just so admirable and inspiring.
Right now, Rachel is travelling the world promoting her newest movie Doctor Strange, in which she stars alongside Benedict Cumberbatch and Tilda Swinton. During her stop in Toronto, she revealed her favourite places to visit in the city; and surprisingly, they're all places that you might regularly go to.
Rachel currently lives in Toronto part-time. One spot that she frequently hit up this year to prepare for Doctor Strange was The Beguiling, a Toronto comic book store.
On any regular day, Rachel says she goes to Evergreen Brick Works to hike the path that meanders through the Don Valley. Sometimes she hits up the farmer's market and browses the plants in the Greener Garden Centre Nursery. She then makes a usual pit stop at Café Belong, where she enjoys a cup of tea. In the fall, Rachel loves to go to the hill just beside the market: "I like to hike up there," she says. "It's just such a great view of the Valley, so that's one of my favourite things to do."
Rachel also has some favourite spots in the Annex, where she used to live. She says she often rode her cruiser around the neighbourhood (particularly on Harbord St) whenever she had any free time. She also made regular visits to Kensington Market on Pedestrian Sundays, which was nearby to her old home.
Apart from her love of these places, Rachel also has a deep appreciation for Toronto's food scene: "I love to eat in this city. You've got the best of the best - you'll never go hungry here."
