One of the most unique things to do in Toronto involves diving head first into a tank full of sharks.
Ripley's Aquarium of Canada offers an awesome Discovery Dive program that lets brave participants have a close encounter with sawfish, sharks, turtles and fish. The experience lasts a full 30 minutes in the aquarium's Dangerous Lagoon and is led by an expert guide who will lead the way.
Divers must be at least 16 years of age, a certified diver, and must complete a medical waiver in order to dive. Up to two guests are available per time slot and bookings can be made online on a first come, first served basis.
Each Discovery Dive costs $250 plus tax and also comes with a behind-the-scenes tour, admission to the Aquarium, souvenirs (towel, bag, strap wrap) and a USB flash drive with photos. They are held every Wednesday at 3 pm and every Sunday at 1 pm.
This year, the Discovery Dive program is offered in the summer (June-August) and fall months (September-December); however, due to high demand, the summer event is now sold out. A wait list has been started for those who would still like to try getting a time slot for the summer, however, the next available time slots will likely open for the fall.
To maximize your chances of landing a time slot for this year, put in a request to be added to the wait list here.
