Now here's something all the stoners will likely appreciate - lighting up in the comfort of your own home is great and all, but if you want to venture outside of your usual Netflix-and-pizza-delivery stoner routine, then we've got just the place for you: the Hot Box Cafe in Kensington Market. Originally opening on Baldwin Street in 2003, this novelty cafe has been serving as the Toronto smoker's haven at its current location for the past five years.
Describing itself as "Toronto's first pot positive joint," Hot Box prides itself on giving customers the chance to toke up while enjoying laidback entertainment like board games, pool tables, and video games. Their vaporizers are free to use and, during warmer days, you can chill out with your friends in their backyard outdoor "potio" surrounded by ivy and trees.
If the munchies hit (which they will... obviously), Hot Box offers an assortment of sandwiches, snacks and smoothies you can choose from - with a $4.20 minimum menu order, naturally.
On weekends, they host events for those 19+ including Movie and a Doobie Wednesdays, Stoned-Up Comedy Thursdays, and Super Smash Saturdays - a gaming tournament with a blitzed-out Super Mario as their logo.
If you're interested in checking out Hot Box, just remember a few ground rules - it's $5 cover to get in, there's an 18+ minimum age requirement, and there's a strictly enforced policy against "dealing, fishing, mooching, or asking." Oh, and of course, it's BYOP - bring your own pot.
