There are millions of Instagram accounts one can follow, but only one Toronto-based Instagram account that combines art and desi culture in the funniest way possible. @Hatecopy is one account that should definitely receive some love.

Pakistani-Canadian artist, Maria Qamar, has the unique ability of capturing the absolutely hilarious side of her culture in a truly honest way. Her work is ironic, unapologetic, and extremely visually appealing, with its vibrant colours and bold use text. Maria's unique style paired with her spot-on anecdotes is easily recognizable.

This Saturday, November 28th, she is a part of a visual artist collab with Babneet Lakhesar (@babbuthepainter), called 'Shame Shame'.  The show explores the shame that first and second generation youth of the South Asian diaspora encounter when they realize that they want to partake in the arts. In the words of the artists: "whether the dream is to create, critique or simply experience, this demographic is often confronted by a wagging finger, 'shame shame'."

WHERE: Rally (12 Ossington St., Toronto)

WHEN: Nov 28, 2015 - Dec 1, 2015
