In an age where Tinder and one night stands prevail, the concept of waiting before sleeping together can seem foreign to this generation. Yet according to a survey by Match.com, you're probably better off if you take your time.

In the survey, Match.com found that couples who waited 5 dates to sleep together were 35% happier than those who slept together on the first date.

Other studies back up these findings. One study published in the Journal of Family Psychology surveyed over 2,000 married couples found that the longer they waited before becoming intimate, the stronger their relationships were. In fact, couples who waited until marriage reported 20% higher relationship stability and satisfaction.

No matter what the numbers say, however, only you can know when the right time is. We suggest going with your gut rather than following the advice from studies.
