As the bright essence of spring flutters through the Toronto air this morning, Environment Canada is ready to welcome the dawn of a new season with an exceptional spring-time forecast.

According to a Tweet posted by CP24, Environment Canada is calling for sunshine and a high of 10°C in the city today.  As the sun sets tonight, a period of rain will begin this evening, with southwest winds of 20 km/hr gusting through Toronto.

March 20th also marks the Spring Equinox - the moment at which the center of the visible Sun is directly above the Equator.  Today is the day when there is roughly 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness nearly everywhere on Earth.

For Thursday, Environment Canada predicts periods of rain ending in the afternoon, followed by cloudy skies, with a high of 7°C.  By nighttime, however, there's a 40 percent chance of rain showers or flurries that continues on into Friday morning.
