There’s nothing worse than getting on the TTC just to run a quick five-minute errand and having to pay another full-price fare to get home.
But that’s all coming to an end this weekend with the new 2-hour transfer window that’s being introduced.
Here’s how it will work and everything you need to know about it.
Starting this weekend on Sunday August 26th, the TTC will officially introduce the 2-hour transfer window.
This feature will only be available to riders who have a PRESTO card. So, if you’re someone who’s using cash or tokens to pay for your ride, right now you’ll be out of luck here.
According to the TTC website, the new transfer window time will allow PRESTO card users to, “be able to hop on and off the system and switch directions any point in their journey, within two hours of their first tap.”
“The transfer will automatically be applied to your PRESTO card the first time you tap onto a bus or streetcar or into a subway station through the fare gates.”
“Each time you tap your card the reader will validate the transfer within the two hour period,” says the TTC.
Two hours after you first tap your PRESTO card, you’ll have to pay another fare and a new transfer window period will begin.
So rejoice transit riders, it’s going to be easier – and cheaper – to transfer on the TTC starting on Sunday.
