If you happen to live on the East end of Toronto especially in the Corktown neighbourhood, odd are you might have smelt something burning throughout the city. No, you were not imagining the smell, but rather Toronto Fire Services says firefighters were dispatched to a three-alarm fire at a two-story townhouse on Queen Street East near Sumach Street just before 8:30 p.m. yesterday night.

The 3-alarm fire could be seen from a distance and the nearby neighbours were encouraged to keep their windows closed due to the heavy smoke.

Approximately 20 fire trucks and 65 firefighters responded to the fire, and luckily there are no reported fatalities and the only injury from the event was from one firefighter who was treated for a undisclosed leg injury.

There are no reports that anyone was inside the building at the time of the fire and thankfully the flames were tamed just before midnight.

Here are 11 photos though that show just how massive the blaze really was.
