Clearly, the University of Western has a knack for weird memos. After being in the news for creepily ambiguous job forms circulating campus earlier this week, the London, Ontario university is back yet again in the media cycle with regard to another memo - but, trust us when we say this one is very different.
The memo in question was reportedly written on September 18th and "sent out" to students shortly after. The reason we don't believe this was actually sent out is that it must be fake - no, it has to be fake... just read it for yourself:
The letter is directed towards first-year Western students and claims that, due to a "recent spread of sexually transmitted infections," that "penis evaluations" will be conducted as part of UWO Health Code.
The letter also threatens that if students don't participate, they will be banned from attending any residence events in the future due to the "risk of possible infection."
It even goes as far as to outline "inspection dates" that are apparently happening on September 25th from 10 AM to 9:30 PM, and if you aren't comfortable being inspected on campus, you can get inspected by a family doctor.
The letter quickly made rounds on not just Reddit, but also on neighbouring universities' respective Twitter accounts such as 'Spotted at Laurier.' While some people might have been fooled by the somewhat legit looking set up of the paper, this memo is clearly fake. That didn't stop Canadian university students from chiming in though:
While it's clear everyone did have some fun with the memo, if you are a first-year male student at Western, we can promise you it's 100% not real and you definitely shouldn't go asking around about where the "inspection" is on campus come September 25th.
