Big changes are coming to the east end of Toronto. East Harbour is an upcoming development that will be located below the Don Valley Parkway, near Leslieville.
The massive development has big plans for office space, restaurants, and shopping. In fact, the official proposal includes over 2 million square feet of retail space, making the shopping space larger than Yorkdale and comparable to the Eaton Centre. Rather than a shopping mall, however, the proposal describes the space as a "retail market."

East Harbour will certainly make a huge impact on the city's configuration. The plans are calling for additional transit stops, including a GO station, to be added to accommodate the development, and even the possibility of a relief subway line.
Sadly, we'll have to wait at least another decade before East Harbour is completed. In the mean time, east enders will just have to keep trekking west for all their shopping needs.
