In Burlington, the Royal Botanical Gardens are also joining in on the floral festivities with the unveiling of its new and improved Centennial Rose Garden. This summer, guests will enjoy a collection of over two-acres of colourful roses, located in the city's famous Hendrie Park.
The renovation of the Centennial Rose Garden comes after years of deterioration due to the effects of changing pesticide laws, unpredictable climates and disease-prone roses. The updates to the garden will focus on sustainable solutions to rose horticulture, including disease-resistant, disease tolerant and cold-hardy roses to promote longevity and extend seasonal interest.
For those who can't wait, the Royal Botanical Gardens are holding behind-the-scenes tours before the Centennial Rose Garden's grand reopening, and they can be booked online. They also accept any donations that can be made towards the Rose Garden project.
