A partially paralyzed Ontarian dog named Eddie is stealing hearts today after an Instagram video posted by his owners showed the dog treading down a snowy path in Owen Sound, Ontario, with a pair of makeshift skis on. The skis are helping the dog, who can no longer use his legs, enjoy the snow again. Eddie the dog lost the ability to move his hind legs in a “horrifying” car accident. But luckily for him, his new owners are determined not to let his disability define him.

If you are ever in need of some heartwarming, you should follow Eddie’s owner Instagram page which is fittingly called “Eddie’s Second Chance,” and is adorably written from the disabled dog’s perspective. The caption for the video, which is now garnering attention across media platforms, is “Just a dog and his dad. Happy Family Day!” and if that doesn’t make you tear up a little, I don’t know what will.

Eddie’s new owner Angela Parker has set up a GoFundMe account for the dog which has already raised over $6000 with an overreaching goal of raising $11,000 to help cover the costs of caring for the disabled dog. On the page, Parker also details the tragic accident which left the dog on the brink of death, his original owners who left him behind and how he recovered to become the dog he is today.

“Earlier in September, I met Eddie, when I saw him try to cross the street and get hit by 2 cars in a row.  I've never seen anything so horrifying and the visions and sounds of his agony remain with me.  Eddie survived and we took him to our own vet's clinic where they tried to find his owners.  Eventually, they were contacted. They no longer wanted him,” Reads Parker’s statement on the page.

Eddie’s first family put him up for adoption after refusing to pay for the veterinary costs. When the Parker’s inherited the dog, he had a dislocated spine and was barely holding on which makes the video of Eddie all gung-ho shredding snow in his winter-gear all the more beautiful to watch.
