According to Sgt. Kerry Schmidt of the Ontario Provincial Police, all westbound lanes of Highway 401 west of Highway 25 in Milton are currently blocked as a result of a multi-vehicle collision. Sgt. Kerry Schmidt has reported that up to 20 vehicles are involved in the collision, including a transport truck.  Fortunately, no serious injuries have been reported at this time.

Schmidt reports on the scene: "Multi-vehicle collision pileup - highway 401 westbound, west of highway 25.  At least 15 cars, 7 transport trucks.  All lanes blocked....This will be some time in cleaning up, so please avoid the area.  The investigation is ongoing.  Fire, paramedics, tows all on scene to try to get this cleaned up and moving again".

No word yet on when the lanes will reopen, but drivers should prepare to divert around the area. Taking an alternate route will likely tack on a significant amount of extra time to your commute, so plan accordingly. More information about the closure will likely be released shortly.
