Anyone who has driven on the 401 knows that the cruise control feature can be a blessing. While it's a handy tool, it could be really dangerous for millions of drivers.
Chrysler is now warning drivers that some of their vehicles' cruise control systems are malfunctioning. In one noted case they said a driver was unable to disengage cruise control.
The company is also saying that people may need to switch their car into neutral or park all together in order to disengage the function, something that is dangerous and hard to do on a busy highway.
The recall affects almost 5 million people in the United States and around 500,000 cars in Canada.
The cars included were all made between 2014 and 2018 and include Chrysler and Dodge Sedans, Jeeps, and Dodge Ram Pick-Up trucks.
If your car is on this list make sure to schedule an appointment with the dealership to get your car checked out, and definitely don't use your cruise control until you have gotten it fixed. If your car does have this issue then the dealer will need to disconnect and reactivate your cruise control system.
With 490,000 vehicles in Canada affected, this recall is in the top 10 largest auto recalls in the country since 1975.
