Unlike many of the other politicians campaigning for the spot as Ontario's PC Provincial leader, former Ward 2 councillor Doug Ford has taken a stand on a pretty controversial topic - abortions. As it stands, the Canada Health Act has made abortions legal in Canada although regulations and accessibility vary from province to province.
A rule that Ford would like to establish in Ontario if elected, would be to have minors ask for permission from parents in order to get an abortion. He made the comments in an interview with CBC News in Windsor, Ontario saying:
"Kids can't even get their tonsils out without the approval of their parents". Adding, "I think we've got to consult parents, and that's what we have to do."

How consent works right now, according to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario's, is that the determine the patient's ability to consent to treatment without age being a factor.
Many of the other candidates running for the Provincial leadership spot oppose Ford's ideas on parental permission, however he's willing to take things a step further and has said on the record that he plans to revisit the already controversial Ontario sex ed curriculum in public schools.
He said earlier this month "Sex ed curriculum should be about facts, not teaching Liberal ideology."
