Expect your morning commute to be more difficult than usual. Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning across Southern Ontario, including the GTA, going so far as to recommend avoiding any unnecessary travel this morning. You can expect to see sidewalks and roads covered in a thin layer of ice.
All TDSB school buses have been cancelled, though schools remain open.
Speaking to the CBC, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said that the ice had already caused a number of vehicle collisions. Schmidt urged drivers to take their time on the roads. "Be very alert, very cautious, and realize that conditions could change very rapidly."
