After months of protests, council sessions, and stress, it looks like Uber is here to stay!
The ride-sharing program is finally legal in Toronto after a compromise was finally reached during a marathon council session in city hall.
One of the rules placed on Uber X is that fares need to start at a minimum of $3.25, the same as the rate used by taxicabs. Furthermore, Uber drivers will now be required to file documents with the city, which include their licence, insurance, and vehicle inspection reports, which will be required twice a year.
While this is definitely not the end of the Uber debate in Toronto, it's a step in the right direction.
