Toronto's Yorkdale Mall was sent into a frenzy last Thursday afternoon when a gunman opened fire inside the busy shopping centre.
The shooting began shortly after 3:00 p.m. and the mall was quickly evacuated and put on lockdown for the day. Thankfully no one was killed, and police now have a suspect in custody.
Zion Sankar-Beharry, a 20-year-old Toronto man, has now been arrested in connection with the shooting, which erupted following an altercation between two groups of men in the mall.
The fight took place near the mall's Starbucks. Two gunshots were fired, sending the public into a panic with people running and ducking for cover.
Shortly after the shooting, Toronto Police put a notice out asking for the public's help in finding Sankar-Berharry. According to police, he was arrested without any struggle yesterday in Trenton, Ontario which is about 2 hours away from Toronto.
He now faces multiple charges including two counts of attempted murder, possession of a firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon among others.
Sankar-Beharry was due to appear in a Toronto court room earlier this morning. Police have not confirmed yet if the fight between the two groups or the resulting gun fire is related the gang-activity.
