If you've ever dreamed of running a bed & breakfast along the Italian coast, now's your chance.
Italy is giving away 103 properties across the country entirely for free. The buildings up for offer include historic villas, castles and other landmarks.
The only catch is that recipients of the properties must transform the sites into tourist attractions, be that hotels, restaurants, shops, etc.
If you think you've got a great business idea, all you need to do is submit a proposal that details your plans. If approved, recipients will have the rights to the property for nine years and the option to renew after that period.
According to The Local, the government is hoping that this iniative will help develop tourism in lesser known areas of the country, while also relieving the strain on tourist-heavy destinations like Rome and Venice.
