History Buffs Won't Be Able To Get Over The Oldest Pictures Of Toronto Ever Found
It's a panorama-rama!
Have you seen these pictures? The oldest known photos of Toronto ever taken just so happen to be a panorama of the city, a continuous loop taken from the roof of the Rossin House Hotel. If you were to print these pictures out and stick them together, you could pretend to be in the 1850s by standing in the middle! You can see it all put together here.
The pictures were taken in 1856-1857, and were part of a series on major Canadian cities put together by the British Colonial Office. They were trying to figure out which city should be the capitol of Canada. Pretty strange that after this, they didn't end up picking Toronto.
