Hurricane Florence Is Continuing To Affect Toronto's Weather Which Means Yes, More Rain

If you thought you could put your umbrella away... think again.

It's safe to say the city of Toronto got some pretty crazy amounts of rain yesterday. The downtown core looked like a scene out of Blade Runner it was so dreary!

While the weather did switch between a drizzle to outright downpours, meteorologists say the city saw 25-30 mm of total rainfall yesterday. Though it wasn't just the rain that posed an issue to residents in the GTA.

Etobicoke was hit with power outages throughout the morning that affected thousands, spanning across the Islington, Kipling and Dundas areas. Outside of the GTA, areas in Ontario such as Niagara and Caledonia were hit with a whopping 50 mm of rain yesterday - enough to concern authorities about potential flooding.

Unfortunately, if you thought the worst was over, there is still a chance of rain today and let's be honest, us Canadians don't have the best luck with the weather. If you're wondering where all of this rain is coming from, it has got a lot to do with Hurricane Florence having its way with the States.

As of right now, there is a 30% chance of the rain making a second appearance. Luckily, it won't be nearly as chilly as it was yesterday, with today's high expected to reach 23°C.

If you are already coming to terms with the loss of summer weather, there is some good news that might surprise you. It is going to get hotter throughout the week, so don't give up on patio season just yet! Meteorologists are expecting it to warm up to between 24°C and 29°C,  so don't pull out your winter coats just yet!

In the meantime, it's probably safe to take an umbrella around with you this week, considering the hurricanes are throwing this week's weather for a loop, to say the least!
