Police are responding after multiple people have been shot in St. Catharines, Ontario. The incident occurred this afternoon around Queenston, Niagara, and Geneva streets, just northwest of the city's downtown core.

Police responded to the scene after receiving multiple 911 calls this afternoon after 3:30 pm. Paramedics confirmed with Newstalk 610 that three people were shot, with one in a local hospital and two being taken to a regional trauma centre by air ambulance. 

Witnesses also told Newstalk 610 that one victim was shot multiple times. They have now confirmed with paramedics that three people were transported to the hospital, one with critical injuries, one with minor injuries, and one in life-threatening conditions. 

Police Const. Phil Gavin told CP24 that police are currently looking for the shooter. They're searching for armed suspects near the intersection where the shooting took place.

Niagara Regional Police held a press conference at 6:00 PM on Thursday where they shared that they are still looking for at least one shooter. Currently, all resources available to the staff are being used to help solve this investigation as quickly as possible. 

The police have also reminded residents of St. Catharines to stay away from the scene at the time being. Multiple roads around the area are also shut down as a result of the investigation.
