Ontario Police Just Stopped A Driver Who Was Wearing A Ski Mask And Had The Word "KILL" Painted On His Car

Ontario Police stopped a driver who was wearing a ski mask and had the word "KILL" painted on his car after several calls from other drivers.

Thanks to the fast thinking and concern of several other drivers, Ontario Police stopped a driver who was wearing a ski mask and had the word "KILL" painted on his car. The driver was spotted on the QEW, a major highway between the Niagara region and Toronto. Multiple people made calls to the police about him, which prompted them to stop the driver and take him into custody.

Sargent Kerry Schmidt, with the Ontario Provincial Police, revealed the incident online, sharing a photo of the dark coloured van, coated in dirt with the word "KILL" spray-painted in bold, white letters on the rear window. In a photo shared of the vehicle, it is also revealed that at least four different OPP officers responded to the calls, showing just how uncertain and severe the situation could have been.

That said, while news of vehicle terrorism attacks and even a van attack in Toronto last year have raised the public's suspicions, it is unclear what the driver's intentions were or if he even had any bad intentions at all. In fact, other than saying he is male, very little has been revealed about the driver.

One detail that Schmidt has revealed is that the driver was taken into custody and is now undergoing a mental health evaluation, leading many Ontarians to suggest that this incident could have been some sort of cry for help.

In response to Schmidt's tweet, several people have commended the police for their response to the situation. While it's not confirmed whether mental health is a factor in this situation, people are still hoping that the driver gets the help he needs if that is the case.

Several people have also pointed out that if this is a mental-health related incident, it's a coincidence that it happened on Bell Let's Talk day. Today people across Canada and some in the US as well have been engaging in a massive campaign aimed at ending the stigma around mental health.

The OPP have not revealed any other details surrounding the individual, his intentions, or whether mental health is a factor in this situation. However, if that's found to be the case, it will be the second mental health-related case involving a vehicle in Ontario this week.

Just last Friday a woman in Durham was taken into custody by police after driving her car into a public indoor swimming pool. Police revealed that they believe mental health issues were related to that case.
